Living In Tune!

I recently overheard my 4-year-old say “this one makes me happy” as she was listening to one of her favorite Disney movie soundtracks.

Music in our household is constant.  Violin, piano, guitar, someone singing, or in this case, a Disney track on repeat.  So goes the music, and so goes the mood!

What hit me was that my baby child, even at this young age knows the power of intentionality.  She specifically asked for a specific song and went on to say “this one makes me happy”.

Adults, we can learn from the mouths and hearts of babes.  For me, here are the lessons.

  1. Find something or somewhere (or a song) to recharge your battery. Do it often!

  2. Don’t settle for less (or a bad song), go to what makes you dance.

  3. If you like it, protect it.  Build boundaries!

  4. Life has many choices (and billions of songs). We still have the freedom to choose…including the choice of happiness.

  5. Live purposefully!  Find your theme, and your soundtrack, and click repeat!

  6. Rhythms are unique and so are you!  Rhythms aren’t schedules, it’s common patterns in life.  The music is the margin between the beats.  Find margin in your days and create your music!

How we spend our days at work, at home, or in the community is often on repeat mode.  But let’s be intentional, choose the right track, enjoy it and protect it!  And don’t be afraid to change it up!

What’s your song?
